Am I?

‘You’re a disgrace’, the paper screamed,

inked with malevolence & ignorance,

confining ‘I’ in a category.

A word were we, strange were we,

not they,

they who made the category.

Unnatural my constitution said, guardian of my freedom,

who taught me freedom,

but not humans were we.

I thought water am I, a drop maybe,

but desire to reach the sky,

am I wrong am i?

Why do we need their grant, grant to be us,

individual,

I am, not pariah am I.

Am I wrong, AM I?

Am I wrong?
